A: While "Making Moves" welcomes dancers of all levels, this project is primarily designed for upcoming and emerging dancers. If you are a beginner dancer, we recommend taking technique classes and building a strong foundation in hip-hop dance before joining the project. It's a great opportunity to develop your skills and prepare for future projects.

A: The "Making Moves" project is focused on providing opportunities for upcoming and emerging dancers. If you are an advanced dancer or part of a competition crew, we encourage you to explore Swarm competition crew auditions for more suitable opportunities. However, we welcome dancers of all levels to join our HipHop dance classes and workshops at Swarm Studios.
Please note that our project aims to nurture and showcase the talent of emerging dancers, and while we may collaborate with various industry professionals, the focus is not on competitive dance.
Q: Is there an age restriction to participate in the "Making Moves" project?
A: The "Making Moves" project is open to dancers of all ages. However, please note that the project is designed for upcoming and emerging dancers, so the content and training may be more suitable for younger dancers or those in the early stages of their dance journey.
Q: Are there any costs involved in participating in the "Making Moves" project?
A: Thanks to the support and funding from the Christchurch City Council, there is no cost for the training and participation in the "Making Moves" project. However, please note that there may be some expenses related to costumes, travel, or additional optional workshops that are not covered by the project.
Q: Can parents or guardians be involved in the "Making Moves" project?
A: Parents or guardians are welcome to support their dancers and attend performances and showcases. However, the training sessions and rehearsals are primarily for the participating dancers. We encourage parents to communicate with the project lead or tutors if they have any specific questions or concerns.
Q: How long is the duration of the "Making Moves" project?
A: The duration of the "Making Moves" project can vary depending on the specific projects and performances. Each project may have its own timeline and rehearsal schedule. Once selected, more information will be provided about the duration and commitment required for the specific project you are participating in. However, we are aiming to produce at least one dance film every 6 month.
